Meg Swansen's Knitting WorkshopsOctober 2-5, 2008 —Two-Color Knitting Techniques (Open)
Dear Knitters, Schoolhouse Press is now offering small workshops in addition to our regular knitting camps/retreats each year with Meg Swansen and Amy Detjen co-teaching a variety of subjects; the upcoming workshop in October is Two-Color Knitting Techniques. Joyce Williams, author of Latvian Dreams and co-author of Armenian Knitting, attends the latter part of workshops as a special guest. We are limiting workshops to 20 participants, so each knitter will have ample opportunity to ask questions and get individual feedback. We have held several workshops in 07 and 08 and we look forward to welcoming more groups of knitters. The online application process for will run until the workshops are full (apply using the link at the top of this page; applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.) The workshops will take place at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin where we hold our summer knitting camps. Special features of the workshops include: A celebratory dinner on Saturday night and an invitation to spend an afternoon visiting the Schoolhouse Press warehouse to shop and explore "The Sweater Room," where all the knitted treasures of EZ and MS are stored.
Two-Color Knitting Techniques (October 2-5, 2008) A rich discussion of many types of two-color techniques including (but not limited to) stranding (or weaving), steeks, short-rows, Armenian Knitting, reading charts, and shaping. This workshop will cover the basic stranding technique (using either one color in each hand, or both colors in one hand) for those who haven't tried two-color knitting before, as well as some more advanced tips for those who want to change the shape or construction details of an existing pattern.
