Viveka Overland's book is a true revival that provides us with more detailed information than we have ever had in previous publications. It allows us to follow more clearly the journey of this extraordinary movement which gave us the "...creative joy and beauty..." of Bohus knitting. Overland captures the historical information of the Swedish Bohus movement through first hand accounts (letters, articles, and interviews) and leaves us speechless with photographs of 43 Bohus designs Solveig Gustafsson has carefully recreated from the originals, with precise instructions for fourteen of them. There are multiple sizes for each garment, plus detailed charts, and even matching gauntlet gloves for two of the designs. Purists may order kits directly from Sweden.
Not only will knitters find Bohus designs to knit that they are familiar with and love, but several of the fourteen patterns have been heretofore unknown to us ardent (and even obsessive) American Bohus-followers. Most of the designs are by Anna-Lisa Mannheimer Lunn and Kerstin Olsson, plus Emma Jacobson, Karin Ivarsson, and Annika Malmström-Bladini; they are all meticulously adapted by Solveig Gustafsson. 11.5 x 9", softcover, in English and Swedish, 150pp, alluring photographs and beautifully produced.
