Estonian Knitting 3, Mittens
Limited Supply; New; in good condition, but discounted for some minor wear, scuffs, or other damage to the covers during shipping
My initial dealings with this top-quality Estonian publisher began in 2011 with that stunning (and now unobtainable) book, Designs and Patterns from Muhu Island. You may be among the fortunate knitters who have copies of Estonian Knitting 1 (Traditions and Techniques), and Estonian Knitting 2 (Socks and Stockings),
Right now, a limited number of their very beautiful new title, Estonian Knitting 3 Mittens, Kristi Jöeste, has arrived safely in our warehouse.
I have tried to keep myself to about 20-30 pages per day, lest it become overwhelming. With bits of paper to mark pages to be returned to for more thorough study, I was riveted by nearly 30 pages of detailed techniques where I found a lovely braided cast-on, saw several double-decreases which were new to me. Look at the alternate photos to see 5 different methods to shape thumb-tops.
A total of 292 mitten patterns from all corners of Estonia, clearly photographed, detailed descriptions (in English), and quality paper; altogether another treasure. (Brace yourself… there is an Estonian Knitting 4 (Gloves) in the works at present.)
Hardcover, 8.75”x 11.75", 352 pages, and weighing in @ just under 5 lbs.
