Fishermen's Knits from the Coast of Norway
Fishermen’s Knits From the Coast of Norway. A History of a Life at Sea and Over 20 New Designs Inspired by Traditional Scandinavian Patterns, from Line Iversen and Margareth Sandvik.
The first 50+ pages contain riveting details and old photographs of life for Norwegian fisherman, and the necessary garments that protected them at sea. The various sources used by the authors date back 300 years.
This history is followed by the knitting patterns themselves, each based on a traditional garment, and each named after the fishing banks, flows, and reefs where fish lurked. Not only beautiful sweaters, but a number of caps, vests, stockings, plus a scarf, a cowl, and the famous felted mittens worn by fishermen around the world.
Each pattern has instructions for three sizes, plus wonderful photographs in this hardcover edition.
